The food one loves best is often the most familiar, full of savoury regional ingredients, great cheeses, wholesome breads and excellent artisanal meats from farmers and producers just a short distance away.
A magical place doesn't just get pulled out of a hat. Anyone with the chance to find him/herself in a place a thousand years old, at the confluence of two lovely rivers, has a very lucky star indeed.
Families from here or elsewhere, Jass card players, working class or bourgeois folks, solid food, good portions and a favourite brew, historical writers like Pagnol and Haldas would have loved the place.

The Restaurant de l'Ange is located 50 meters from the Gottéron Valley, where two rivers meet directly beneath our terrace and our medieval building. The surrounding limestone cliffs date back tens of thousands of years. Historic, you say?

Our terrace is one of the best in the country, with views of the Bern Bridge (also known as the "wooden bridge"), the Zaehringen Bridge, St. Nicholas Cathedral, and the former Augustinian ice rink where Fribourg-Gottéron made its illustrious debut. This is Bolzes territory.

Whether you're on the terrace or emerging from the cafe after a fun party, you're surrounded by history, towers, and just steps away from an extraordinary walk, perfect for digesting your meal and exploring a bit.

Adorned with magnificent flowers in every season except winter, the bridge unites the city proper with the old blacksmiths' quarter, where brave craftsmen once carried out important but risky work that, more than once, resulted in sparks flying. These two beautiful rivers protected the city and its upper districts.
